Activated carbon filters are used for odour removal, i.e. air deodorisation, in air conditioning and ventilation systems, as well as in kitchens, paint shops and industrial facilities. They purify the air by removing solvents, hydrocarbons and organic compounds. They also treat other gases, including: they desulphurise exhaust gases and remove dioxins, mercury and other pollutants from exhaust gases.

The use of activated carbon filters in environments with high temperatures or high humidity is not recommended, as this reduces their sorption capacity.
